Youngbusiness.net is an umbrella name for project work that WYEC has done, or is doing , in the UK and in Europe. Many organisations and individuals have visited WYEC over the years and been impressed by what they have seen. WYEC's methods of client-led business counselling and training have been outstandingly successful - 5,000 young people supported, with over 550 businesses set up since 1988, and 90% of them still trading after 2 years. Other Enterprise Support Agencies have asked us for advice and help themselves. This is given through two youngbusiness.net projects:
- Youngbusiness.net - UK started in August 2004, working with five
enterprise projects around the UK to help them develop their own youth enterprise services.
The project is funded by the Big Lottery Fund. If you want to know more, visit the web
site: www.youngbusiness.net. The youngbusiness.net-UK project is funded by the Big Lottery
Fund. Full details of the Big Lottery Fund programmes and grant awards are available on the
website: www.biglotteryfund.org.uk

- Youngbusiness.net - Central Europe (YBN2). This programme operates in Central Europe and continues the European work started in 1996 in Budapest to help establish the first Youth Enterprise Incubator Centre and Programme in Central and Eastern Europe. This work was built upon with Youngbusiness.net - Central Europe (YBN1) in 1999 where four agencies in Hungary and Slovenia were helped to develop their youth enterprise services.
- Now WYEC is leading on a project which is being developed to further build on this
network in addition to promoting enterprise in schools and establishing common standards.
Five agencies in Hungary, Slovakia and Poland are working with WYEC on this initiative,
which is supported by the EU Leonardo Programme. YBN2 has 4 strands - or Work Packages
- designed to develop youth enterprise services for young people both before they have
left school and afterwards. The 4 Work Packages are:
- To further develop enterprise provision for young people in those centres that have it already, and to help new centres develop their provision.
- Similarly to develop enterprise learning for school students, and develop new links with schools where none exist already.
- To accredit standards in enterprise training, counselling, incubation and learning.
- To set up a Central European Youth Enterprise Society to carry forward the work of refining and disseminating youth enterprise techniques and methods once the present Leonardo Funded project ends.
